Kamalakar Bhat is Professor and Head of the Postgraduate department of English of Ahmednagar College, Ahmednagar in Maharashtra. He is a bilingual writer and a translator between English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and Kannada. He has published three collections of poems in Kannada: “Churuparu Reshime” (Silk Shreds, PUTINA award, 2006), “Mugiyada Madhyahna” (Endless Noon, 2010) and "Jagadajate Matukate" (A Chat with the World 2017). His translation of the works of Marathi poet Namdev Dhasal has been published by Kuvempu Bhashabharati in 2018. He has edited the lectures and essays of Prof. H S Shivaprakash under the title "The Word and the World", which has been published by Manipal Universal Press in 2019. An anthology of poetry translated from ten Indian languages was published in 2021 by the publication division of Kuvempu University, Shivmoga. His translations of Kannada poetry and short stories have appeared in Indian Literature, Muse India and Prologue. His translations into Kannada also have been published in Kannada magazines. He was the Kannada editor of the online magazine indiaree.com. He has written columns in Kannada magazines like "Andolana", “Kendasampige” and “Eedina.com”. He has published more than 20 research papers in national and international academic journals. He has undertaken a "Translation-a-Day" project on his Facebook wall carrying into Kannada, poetry from all parts of the world and from Kannada into English since October 2019.

Ajay Varma Alluri is a bilingual writer and translator, born in Sindhanur of Raichur district, in Karnataka. He has so far published ‘Gagana Sindhu’ (Poetry collection), ‘Diana Mara’, ‘Kalala Kannēti Pāta’, ‘Vimukthe’, ‘Nālkane Ekare’, ‘Nalana Damayanti’, ‘RSS: Lōthupāthulu’ (translations). He has bagged Da.Ra.Bendre poetry prize, Aa.Na.Kru Short Story Prize, Prahalādha Agasanakatte Award, Kuvempu bāshā Bharathi award for his works. Ajay is currently pursuing his PhD in Translation Studies from English And Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.

Bhumika R completed her Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. She has worked as an assistant professor in the School of Humanities & Sciences at Shiv Nadar University,Chennai, Jain(Deemed to be)University Bangalore, Shri Mata Vaishnodevi University in Kakryal, J&K and as a language instructor in the Department of Humanities & Social Science, IIT Jammu.
She believes that writing heals scars and allows you to mock authority in a subtle yet powerful manner and importantly it allows a writer to tell stories that might be difficult to articulate in academic writing. In July 2022 she decided to focus her energy and time entirely on literary
writing and translation having realised that her love and passion for literature outweigh her interest in academia. Bhumika has contributed articles to Cafe Dissensus everyday, The Hindu and Deccan Herald. She writes poetry and short fiction in English. Some of her poems have been published in the Visual Verse, IACLALS news letter, The Pine Cone review, and plato caves online. Her short stories have been published in the borderless journal,
aainangar literary magazine and east india story.
She also translates poetry and fiction from Kannada in to English and vice versa.

Born on November 3, 1984 in a small town called Somanatti, Bailahongala Taluk, Belagavi District, she holds a Master's Degree in M.Sc Physics and is working as a Mathematics Teacher in a High School. His poetry and short stories have been published in many newspapers of the country. In 2018, his first collection of poetry titled 'Trial Room's Nymphs' was published by Pallava Prakashan Hospet. This compilation has received 'Kajana Yuva Puraskar-2019' 'V.C. Udayonmukh Puraskar-2019' 'State-level Janna Sanadi Sahitya Puraskar-2019' 'Amma Praswan-2019'.The poem 'The blue wheel should have had legs' is the text for the first BA Kannada subject of Mangalore University. In 2021, a second collection of poetry titled 'Pathe Prahe Martyakkiliiyachum' was published by Samakaleena Oduparaha.

Ravichandra Chittampalli took a PhD in English Literature on the poetry of A D Hope and is currently Professor at the Department of Studies in English, University of Mysore. He won the K Tirumalachar award from Dhvanyaloka for research in 1983. Saga Magazine, Kent, honoured him with a travel fellowship to visit UK and Ireland in 1990. He was nominated the Northrop Frye Fellow in 1992 from Victoria University in the University of Toronto, Canada. He was twice the Shastri Fellow, in 1994 and in 2004, carrying out research at various universities in Canada. He has been consistently publishing in journals like Indian Journal of Canadian Studies, South Asian Canadiana, The Literary Criterion: Aspects of Contemporary Canadian Literature, Critical Practice and others.

Jayasrinivasa Rao translates across Kannada and English and has translated into English an early Kannada novel, Chandramukhiya Ghatavu (Rodda Vyasrau Venkatrau; 1900); poems, stories, and essays for Steel Nibs are Sprouting: New Dalit Writing from South India; and Kerur Vasudevacharya’s Holmes story Vismayajanakavada Himseya Kramavu. His English translations of K. V. Tirumalesh’s Hyderabad Poems have appeared in Caesurae: Poetics of Cultural Translation, Muse India, and Maidaanam and his Kannada translations of world poetry have appeared in Kannada literary journals Avadhi, Kendasampige, Bhasha Bharathi, and Ruthumana. His book of Kannada translations of 70 Polish poems, Suridaavo Taaregalu, published by Kuvempu University, Karnataka, was released in April 2022.

Keshava Malagi is an Indian Kannada language writer of the post-Bandaya generation. He has published two novels, Kunkuma bhoomi and Angada dhare, and five short story collections, Kadala terege dande, Maagi moovattaidu, Vennela dorasani, Hole badiya belagu and Akatha katha. Malagi was born in 1963 in Karnataka. He obtained his MA from Mysore University and began his career as a journalist. He served as sub-editor in "Suddi sangati", Prajavani and Times of India, and as editor with Orient Longman. Malagi moved from journalism to education and joined MAYA, a Bangalore-based NGO. And worked in the Azim Premji foundation. Malagi now works in Srishti Manipal Institute, Bengaluru an Art, design and technology institute.

Mamta Sagar is a Kannada poet, playwright and translator living in Bengaluru. She has four collections of poems and plays. Kaada Navilina Hejje (Footsteps of the Wild Peacock, 1992), Nadiya Neerina Teva (Dampness of the River Water, 1999), Hiige HaaLeya Maile HaaDu (Like This on the Page the Song, 2007), Hide & Seek, a collection of selected poems in English translated by Chitra Panikkar with the source text in Kannada (2014), Chukki Chukki Chandakki, a musical play for children (1993), The Swing of Desire, translation of her Kannada play Mayye Bhaara Manave Bhaara, included in Staging Resistance: Plays by Women in Translation (2004), Como esto en la pagina la cancion, a collection of her poems in Spanish translated by Nicolás Suescún and Nelson Roque Valdés (2008). She has translated and edited Beyond Barriers: Slovenian-Kannada Literature Interactions, a trilingual compilation of poems and stories (2011). Elif Shafak’s Forty Rules of Love is one of her recent translations into Kannada. Mamta has collaborated her poetry performance with visual artists, musicians and poets from other language areas within and outside India. Mamta is a recipient of the Charles Wallace India Trust fellowship (2015) and AUROPOLIS Poet in Residence at Belgrade (2012).

Manu V. Devadevan is an Indian historian known for his works on pre-modern south India. Manu Devadevan, originally from Kerala, grew up and studied in Bengaluru. He completed his post-graduate degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University and completed his doctoral research from Mangalore University (under historian Kesavan Veluthat). He holds an expertise in multiple Indian languages. A poet, literary critic and translator, he has published widely in Kannada and also writes in Malayalam. Devadevan is a recipient of the Infosys Prize 2019 for Humanities. He currently works at School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi.

MEHABOOB MULTANI Mehaboob Multani works as an English teacher in Urdu High School at Kittur. He is a poet and translator. He translates mainly from Indian languages. He translates from Hindi, Marathi, Urdu and English. His poetry and short stories have been published in many newspapers and magazines of Kannada. In 2020 he won Prajavani Poetry Prize and 2021 he won consolidate prize for poetry. One of his short stories short listed for Samajmukhi Short Story contest. Recently he started his own publication house named as “samakaleen odu baraha”.

His English to Kannada translations include Tagore's Gitanjali, Margaret Atwood's Murder in the Dark, a biography of Tatyatope and Kamala Mukunda's What did You Ask At School Today? . Ramesh Aroli, is a young poet writing in the Kannada language. His first poetry collection (Eleya Paapada Hesaru Nimmiccheyante Ettukolli- Name the Sin of an Infant as you like) came in 2010 and the second collection Julume (Outrage) in 2014.
He published his third collection "Bidu Saaku E Kedugaalakkishtu" (This is enough for these bad times in 2021. His poetry has received a few literary awards that including Dr. G.S. Shivarudrappa Kaavya Prashasti, (2010), Pu. Ti. Narasimhacharya Poetry-Drama (2014) and Sanchaya Kaavya Prashasti, Prajavani Deepavali poetry award, and Sankramana Kaavya Prashasti for individual poems. He has translated the renowned Telugu novel Maidanam of Chalam into Kannada and has published a biography of Bolabandeppa, a Dalit activist. His latest book on Madhubala-popular Hindi film actress was released in 2022.

Samvartha ‘Sahil’ is based in Manipal, a university town in coastal Karnataka. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Theatre and Performance Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and a Diploma in Screenwriting from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, and he writes, teaches and translates for a living. Samvartha has worked with filmmakers Shri Prakash, Ananya Kasaravalli, PN Ramachandra in the Direction and Screenplay departments, and has co-written and co-directed a documentary on mental health with Sakshi Gulati. He earlier worked as a journalist with The Hindu and lectured at Manipal University. A recipient of the Prabhash Joshi Media Fellowship and Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Travel Fellowship, his publications to date include translations into his native Kannada of two poetry collections, one by the award-winning Marathi filmmaker and poet Nagraj Manjule and another by the Dalit anti-cast activist, poet and publisher Yogesh Maitreya. He also published a collection of column writings originally in Kannada and is fluent in Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, as well as English.

Born in Bangalore in 1954, poet and playwright H.S. Shivaprakash is considered one of the most influential voices in Kannada literature today. The recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, he has also received the highest awards in Karnataka for literature and drama. His literary works have been translated into most Indian languages, as well as into English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. A significant scholarly contribution is the rediscovery of the aesthetic facets of Indian Bhakti traditions. His plays are widely staged in Karnataka and other parts of India. The former editor of the Sahitya Akademi journal, Indian Literature, Prof. Shivaprakash is a professor of Theatre Studies at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Since June 2011, he has been serving as the director of the Tagore Centre, Indian Embassy, Berlin. I Keep Vigil of Rudra, his translation of the Kannada vachanas, was published by Penguin in 2010.

Udaya Itagi, who is well-known to Kannada readers through his work "Libya Diary", originally hails from Mudhola in the Koppal district. Uday Itagi was born, brought up, and attended primary school in a small village called Kalakoti in the present Haveri district. He then completed his high school education in Gadag, P.U. education in Dharawad and BA in English Literature from the University of Mysore. Later he took his M.A. in English Literature from Karnataka State Open University, Mysore. He began his career as an English lecturer in Bengaluru after completing his master's degree in English. After working there for seven years, in 2007, he was selected as an English lecturer at Sebha University in North Africa, Libya. He served in Libya for eight years and returned to India in 2015. Now he is the Principal of D.V.S. P.U. College Bharamasagar. His passion for writing started as a student and became stronger as he continued to write. His various articles including some translated stories and poems have been published in reputed newspapers of the country. Besides, he has brought many Arabic poems to Kannada. His one-man play "Shekshapeerana Srimati" which was released only last year has also come on stage with the famous actress Laxmi Chandrasekhar’s acting. Another book of his "Poorva Mattu Paschimada Kathegalu" is in print. Besides, the poems of the young Assamese poet Kamal Kumar Tanti have been brought out under the name "Nanna Chaha Tota and Neelihakki" which has been published by Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati. Apart from this, he has translated many Kannada poems into English.

Zabiulla M. Asad has hailed from a town the name of Molakalmuru, a taluk center famous for silk saree weaving in Chitradurga district. He completed his undergraduate education in Kannada medium, then his graduate education in Chitradurga, the district headquarters, studied English literature as an optional subject, then became interested in medical subjects, completed his Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery in Bellary, worked as a nurse and assistant surgeon for many years in Bellary and Bangalore. Then working as asst. Project manager cum Nurse in medical NGO, named Karuna Trust at Bangalore from the last seven years. After the Corona crisis he turned his instincts into a career and is currently lives in Hiriyur. Asad is interested in painting, handicrafts, collecting stamps and old coins, writing, photography, traveling and in social work. His debut work is a collection of poems titled Yekaangiya Kanavarikegalu published in 2015, from the CVG India Publications, Bangalore.
